Soft and Sweet

I had little snippets of paper and ribbon sitting on the table, and they all floated together to create 2 cards- I just needed the right stamps!

Both cards used images from Stampin' Up!'s Soft & Sweet. Soft & Sweet is a set I rarely use, and had actually pulled it out and put it in a pile of ' to discard'. I made two cards from the set today, but I still think I will sell the set!

The baby image is the reason I bought the set, but have rarely used it. Today I did minimal coloring, using SU's watercolor crayons Pretty in Pink and Apricot Appeal. The dotted ribbon is one I have had forever, but which never seems to work because the dots are so far apart- today I just accepted it's limitations- I need to use up some of these ribbons! There is a snippet of Apricot Appeal 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon tied onto the polka dot. 5 brads from the Soft Subtles set finish it off! The Cute As Can Be stamp is from Hero Arts.

I colored the bear with Prisma pencils and baby oil. The papers are from large Craft stores, but are in such small pieces I don't know who made them. The card base is PapertreyInk's Stampers Select, the green ribbon is SU's certainly celery, and the pink dotted organdy is from Joannes. The organdy piece was about 2 inches long, so I folded it in the middle, then set it on the 3 inch piece of grosgrain and just knotted the grosgrain over the organdy. I love it when all the little pieces come together as another card!

Sometimes others just don't see things the way we do, KWIM? The card above has the baby pony image laid over what I redid. Al did the cutest little baby card, but the nurses left it in the bag when they told me they had no more girl cards to use. when I opened the drawer, I kinda could see why- the stork brought a baby horse to a mom?!? I guess if you didn't grow up with horses, or have them in your life, you might not see the relationship, lol- so home it came, and I redid it to have the stork bring a baby human, lol!

Boy birdie

Oh wait, the birdie isn't a boy, of course... well wait, I guess it could be a daddy guarding the nest... Ok, post rename: Bluebird Baby boy card- ha!

I cased this card from whoistracy over on Papertrey's forum. She cut out the bird but I couldn't figure out how my hands were going to preserve the beak... and I needed to do the CMWC # 19, so this card was born!!

The card and layer are PTI's Stampers Select cs, the blue cs and ribbon are SU's new Pacific Point. The bird from PTI's Birds of a Feather set is stamped in Palette's Beaux Arts Blue ink, the nest is Versafine Sepia, and the eggs are PTI's Ocean Tides.

He just called me to dinner, so I'll just say the rest should be obvious, lol!

Buggies and Booties

Lucky for me, I had some images stamped out before I ruined my Versafine ink pad. This image is from Stampin' Up!'s Buggies & Booties set. It's funny that the images are in the same style as the images from Soft and Sweet, but I love Buggies & Booties but do not love Soft & Sweet. I'm just a fickle woman, I guess!

Other than the water coloring (done with SU's soft Subtles WC crayons), this is a 5 minute card. The papers are Basic Grey Sugared 6 x 6 pad. the pink scalloped oval paper is from an unknown maker. The image is sponged with a combination of Papertrey's Ripe Avocado and SU's Old Olive. If I did it again I would used Papertrey's Spring Moss to start- my final green is a little more vibrant than the BG green paper. The ribbon is Papertrey's Sweet blush satin. I cut the ribbon hole by hand with a knife. There are little half pearls on the bottom right edge- and that's it!!

Coming and Going~

I am so computer illiterate- I wish I had things figured out. I have a stat counter, and look at the summaries every now and then, but I still don't exactly know what it means. I wonder if anyone comes to my blog daily, looking for new things. How egotistical is that?? Still, i thought just in case, I would explain some things:

I work nights, and it exhausts me- I try and string them together so that I get a string of nights off in a row. this means that once a week there will be 3 days where I probably won't post anything. it just means I am spending some time making money so I can buy some new things!

While some people go to their space daily and do one thing, I do not. I go to my space daily, and usually create nothing. Really. Then, about once a week, in one span of a few hours, things will come cranking out a million miles an hour. Well, maybe not that fast, it depends on if I, drinking caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee. Today I made 7 cards in 4 hours-all different. One went in the trash (see the post below!), so that makes 6. is it better to post one or two at a time? I have no idea- if you have read this far and have an opinion, let me know!

A Comedy of Errors~

Well, now, that's a contradiction in terms, isn't it?!? Believe me, as these errors were unfolding, I wasn't laughing! I am doing baby cards this weekend (10 is my goal for Saturday and Sunday until I head to work Sunday night).

I use Archival Ink Jet Black a lot, but only on alcohol inked backgrounds. It's not a dark black ink, but it doesn't smudge or smear on my alcohol backgrounds. That's odd, because it does smudge and smear on paper. So, I can't use it to watercolor or cut out. It was getting dry, so I bought a refiller, came home and started to pour it on the pad. Ack! I was just about done refilling my pad when I realized I had put the Archival ink onto my Versafine Onyx Black pad. Ack! again! I consider Versafine Onyx Black the perfect ink for me; it dries quickly, doesn't smudge, and doesn't smear when I watercolor or use oil. Oh blah! Now I have spoilt my ink pad, and I don't have another. Dang. Well, I might as well bite the bullet and use it, I say to myself. Maybe I will be surprised!

Well, I tried- and it wasn't going too badly, until I went to cut out my image, and poof! the upper right corner diappeared! I have no idea how I did that, but I found the intsy 'ittle corner on the table top, so thought I could glue it down after I glued down the main image. It worked swell until I pounfed it down and rubbed with my finger...amd you guessed it... smudged the entire right corner. Sheesh. Had to start over, this time using Pallette Noir-

This is probably the longest it's ever taken me to do a PTI CMWC- 3 months and 3 hours!
