Papertrey Pages May Challenge- Done!

If you've come during the Papertrey Blog Hop, Welcome! And please accept my apologies for not using any felt, lol, I just wanted you to see my Papertrey Pages May Challenge pages!!

The photos are of one of my grandbabies at about 3 months of age- with a giant sailor hat on, hanging from his mamma's tummy pack. I printed them out in sepia tones.

The paper has been sitting around for years waiting to be used with these photos- it is from Daisy D's. I used Father Knows Best for the little compass, It's a Celebration for the banners, and Men of Life for the boats.

The scrapbook page challenge was to use at least one Papertrey stamp set and a watercolor technique. !

I claim the extra points, lol, since i used some twill ribbon, too! The photo frame on this page is done just by making little knots along the cream twill, and attaching with glue dots. The title is done using stickers from Joann's, but instead of taking them off and sticking them on I just cut the page apart and glued down the part the sticker is stuck to. I may regret that move in another 10 years, but it looks kinda cute here!

Not only are my challenge pages done, but these are pages 3 & 4 out of 20. The 20 pounds you ask?? Well, 4 there, too. Wish it was more; still, I started May 1. At just under 4 weeks, I am on schedule! At least that is what my delusions allow me to believe!

Leah's flowers-

Leah (created4apurpose on Papertrey's forum) was kind enough to send me some of her crocheted flowers. I thought a CAS card did them well!

PTI's Faux Ribbon for the sentiment and Women of Life for the stems. Spring Moss and Versafine Vintage Sepia inks. Tiny yellow pearls from a $1.00 pack from Mike's. Nice and flat for mailing, too!

VW Baby!

I've had this card in my head ever since I found this The Paper Loft paper. The card is a case from Nichole Heady, of course... but I had to put the baby in the window! The paper comes in blue, too. There are little clear rhinestones for the headlights; the bow is Sweet Blush Swiss Dots.
Next time I'll try a polka dotted bug!

Week 2 Challenge Down-date:

Down only a total of 3 pounds total, but that's a better rate of loss. I'm still on a 1 week 1 pound rate.

I have the second set of pages laid out, just have to do my Papertrey water colored images. I am sure I will have this done by the end of the week to meet the Papertrey Pages challenges.

365 card? Um well, not doing so good there. I haven't done one this week, I have had to crank out quick baby cards and I am finding working from a sketch is taking me longer, not shorter. Darn!

20 Pages 20 Pounds Challenge Update

I was lucky that I bought some Dillon's Laser Design's pages at CKC Manchester last week, so my first pages of my challenge to myself were relatively quick to put together. The kayak I photographed Jayson in really is brilliant blue, and the spring grass was neon green, so that determined the pages colors. I felt so good using the Cricut for the title; it's what I bought it for, and have used it very few times! The little 'quad' (as Jay says) and canoe (couldn't find a kayak) are Jolees, buttons are from the stash.
Yay me!! 2 pages down, 18 to go!
>
I have been a bit slow with the hospital's cards, so while I have been making them, they have to go in before I get them photographed. It is true that with the 365 cards, not all of them have been easy to translate into baby cards; I have decided I will bypass the harder ones- this one though, Betsy Veldman's for May 6, was easy!! And cute!!

And now the weight: Drum roll, please>>>> 4 pounds in one week! Woo Hoo! About 6 years ago I lost weight, so I know that four pounds in one week is not sustainable, but still, I sure am happy about it!!

3/365 and a Betsy Veldman CASE

Wow, I just figured out how to make the photos on the blog bigger!

So, well, gee, I'm a little behind on the 365 cards, lol, but I do have May 3rd done!! I started thinking maybe I shouldn't be photographing the page of the book~ I need to figure out if it's ok with the publisher before I do it again. The original May 3rd is a Teacher Appreciation card, but of course I did it as a baby card. I used SU's Enchante paper in combo with 2 Hot Off The Press fabric stickers on a base of Lavender Lace Textured paper. The border punch is a Fiskar's; the twine and ribbon are Papertrey. I colored the silk ribbon with a Prisma marker to match the paper. Some wheensy purple buttons tied with floss take the place of the larger brads used on the original. I sure do hope I can catch up, lol!

The good news is that I have 2 pages done, and may have lost a tiny bit of weight, so all in all a good week so far!

This card is a case from Besty Veldman, you can see her beautiful card here-

Background paper is from Nana's Nursery Baby Girl, the ribbon and buttons are Papertrey, and the stamps are, oh dear, I can't remember. The thing I like the most about Betsy's card are the little circles- don't ask me what happened to them on my card, lol lol lol... they didn't seem to make it on there! I did shadow stamp the sentiment in Sweet Blush then Versafine Sepia, and used plain Sepia for the faux stitching around the edge of the layer.

365 cards~ Day 2

Woo Hoo! Day 2 of 365 cards- You can see the Welcome Home card up there~ mine became a baby card, of course!!

That's stork paper by Frances Meyer, and the little checks are from the Baby of Mine collection by Flair Designs. The stork image is a Hero Arts wood mounted stamp, and the letters were cut from an older Cuttlebug alphabet. Lemon Tart is the base card, SU's Chocolate Chip for the letters and the Marvy punched scalloped square. Lemon Tart double stitched ribbon, the sentiment is from Papertrey's Baby Button Bits. Fiskars punch. You can figure out the rest, lol. I was going to pop up the 'baby', but decided not to since the cards get kicked around a lot in the nurses station, and the baby blanket is already popped up.
I weighed the same today as yesterday, but both yesterday and today came in just over 1200 calories.
Worked on a pair of pages, today, too- used a 'cheater' page- the photos are all arranged, now just need to figure out how to mke the pages match the photos better, and what and where to journal.
Did you see the Papertrey DT post? It's here All about bows, and lots of videos! All of their stuff just blows me away. I made one CASE card today, and will post it along with others in the next day or so!

A BIG challenge!!!

Well, this is a BIG challenge I am giving myself, but I sure do hope you will follow along with me!

How About-

20 pounds, 20 pages, 20 weeks, 365 cards!!?!

So, I need to lose weight, I need to get the babies all scrap booked, and I need to do it now! Along with making the baby cards, of course, lol!!

I figure 20 pages is really just 10 layouts, and I already have bought lots of 'almost done' scrapbook pages, so maybe that one isn't so hard- but golly, just thinking about sorting photos and making decisions is daunting! I am going to see if my friends on the Papertrey forums will help me!

Oh lordy, I think I am wearing a size 16, I am afraid to look. Just 6 years ago I was a size 10. what happened? Menopause and semi-retirement, I guess. 10 years ago I lost 25 pounds; it's time to dust off the books I used. It was low carb and low cal, a lot of Atkins and pickles to fill me up. I exercised then, too, but I just don't know where to fit that in my days, now. How many calories does cutting with scissors burn? Oh wait! I know!! I will use the Cuttlebug everyday, surely cranking burns tons of calories!!

Where do the 365 cards come in?

365 cards!
ETA: Ok the real name of the book is A Card A Day, it's a Leisure Arts publication (although it also has 'Paper Crafts' on the top), and you can buy it here!

What a great book this is! I bought it at the Manchester CKC show yesterday (along with just a few other things!!)and since today was May first, well, what do you know?!? Baby cards!!

I have only skimmed through it, and haven't really looked at the photos, but what I have seen is so fun! See, I thought this page was the card for the first of May, but when I turned the page after I made the two baby cards May 1 had a different card. ETA: the May card I did is on page 53, and the Designer is Wendy Sue Anderson.

I did both boy and girl, the cards are just a bit different since I didn't have any rectangular chipboard embellishments to use, but generally they are the same.
Background papers for both are from Nana's Nursery. That's a Waltzingmouse stamp on the boy card- since today was Claire's May release I had WMS on the brain.
The boy card looks washed out here, It is stamped in Papertrey's Aqua Mist, and is much brighter in real life! Interestingly, the WMS circle image is stamped in Summer Sunrise, and is much softer IRL. I need to stop playing around with the color and saturation, lol!!
