Cards from Precious Scraps box!

Do you remember that I got a package from Precious Scraps last week? See my box of goodies here. Well, it's been weighing on me that I haven't made anything from those papers yet...but gee, much of it was pink and I need boy cards...! What's a girl to do?

Well, I think I did ok! I have made 3 boy cards so far; I'll show the other two over the weekend.

Card base is a white A-2. First layer is one of SU's old In Colors, Bayou Blue. Next layer up is a green print from Memory Box Sweetbay. Sweetbay is all beautiful baby boy blues, so it's funny I used the green first! The strip of animals is from Little Yellow Bicycle, baby safari girl. The brads in the upper corners are from the matching Brad Assortment. The little tag is from a Studio 112 pack, bought at my local dis-dis-discount store.

Isn't it amazing how well this stamp matches the safari animals?? The stamp is from Great Impressions, J92. If you click on it to make it bigger, you will see how well the images match!

A Star is Born

Can't believe I didn't post this when I made it. Was one of the quick ones when I was sick earlier this month. Can't possibly be original since I am not that clever, so I thank whoever had this idea first!

Set is Papertrey's Second Anniversary set, Everyday Classics. Inks are Papertrey's Spring Rain, Spring Moss, Lemon Tart and Plum Pudding (well, coulda been Lavender Moon?). Sentiment comes from Favor It Baby. Punched with SU's big and little star punches.

Gosh, I should go make a bunch more of these right now!

Circles and Stars

I really need to write things down when I make a card, since I seem to forget pretty quickly what I used!! Where oh where did that sentiment come from???

For the past couple of years I have only used SU or PTI card stock for cards, but when I first started in card making, I bought lots of premade cards- this blue one has been sitting for about 3 or 4 years, I bet. I have been cleaning out to take things to a yard sale, and this fluttered out- unfaded like many were, and just asking to be a baby boy card and go up to the hospital! so, I complied!!

I love the new embossed papers all over, but wish I'd written on the back who made this one so I could tell you! the ribbon is a piece of the Dots and Checks series from Michael's, and the green layer is SU's Certainly Celery- they match perfectly!

The big star is stamped with SU's Nursery necessities, and the little stars are punched from PTI's bitty Dots in Lemon Tart with SU's smaller punch. Welcome is from PTI's 2008 Anniversary set, and I am pretty sure the 'little star' is from savvy stamps.

My stress levels are even higher this week after the long sleepless day of work and cupcakes- now I am working on a 6 hour lecture that I have to have done by next Monday. I haven't worked with Power Point in a long time... I know how to stamp yellow arrows all over my paper, and overstamp black letters... why doesn't Power Point do it the way I do it, lol!?!

Cupcakes!

I came across this great book in Michael's, Hello, Cupcake! If you love cupcakes, you already know about this book. If you love to surprise your friends with your humble talents, you need this book!

I covered a box with white freezer paper and colored coconut green with food coloring. Made the cupcakes, iced them, put the necks and heads together, and dipped the tails in chocolate before going to work on Saturday night. That part took a couple of hours. When I got home Sunday morning, I attached the necks to the cupcakes, and inserted the tails, then piped icing on for manes and spots. Packed everything up for the one hour drive... and we were off!

We had a few decapitations and smooshes in the car on the way over- I think the heat of the sun melted some chocolate connections... but they were great snacks on the ride over!

Assembled the scene on the table when we got there. yeah! It was fun!

31 years is not a long time!

Wednesday was our anniversary, we've been married 31 years. Funny, I think I look old in the mirror, but he is 10 years older than me, and I think he looks young and cute!

I wasn't going to make a card~ we generally do not do gifts and cards to each other~ but this week there was a conversation over on the Papertrey forum about not showing cards that are copies. The problem with not showing them is that the original maker never knows how something they did inspires others!

Anya made this beautiful, perfect anniversary card~ be sure and go see it here- and be sure and leave her a comment! I had to take the opportunity to make it and show Anya how much I admired it! The only thing different I did was added the heart square from Quilters Additions, and made little points on the sentiments to make it more like a banner-

Boats and More Boats!

I have lots of brass stencils, but rarely get them out. I wanted to do some quick baby cards, and the stencils work well for that! Indeed, I made 3 cards the other day before noon, and took them up to the hospital before I photographed them. If I'm lucky, I'll remember what I did so I can do them again!

Sorry the color isn't correct here, but I had to play around with brightness and contrast to get the embossing to show. The blue used is Papertrey's Spring Rain- it's a lovely blue color, and the ribbons are just glorious! The boat image is from Men of Life, and the bitty baby is from, well, Bitty Baby Blessings!

Can you see the embossed sailboats? I hope so! The stencil says TSC Designs on it, TMB 306. I don't know where I got it, I've had it forever! The white paper is actually one of the paper package inserts -you know, the piece that tells you what color the paper is-from Papertrey, lol, it's just the correct thickness for embossing, but the same white as their cardstock.

The ovals are punched with Marvy punches, after the white piece was embossed with the Cuttlebug dots folder. Spring Rain ink was swiped across the raised dots. The sails were stamped with Versamark and white embossed. The boat hull was stamped with Papertrey's Dark Chocolate on their kraft cardstcok. The bitty flag is a snip from a piece of colorful stripes.



I made the 'Ahoy little sailor' tag, but couldn't figure out where to put it on the outside so it wouldn't compete with the embossing. Wait- why can't a tag go inside? Ahh, very cute!!
